Art can be a lonely pursuit. Living in Sonoma county we have many wonderful art groups and associations. The members of Sonoma 8 have enjoyed the benefits of belonging to these groups. Our goal is to keep improving our painting skills and these groups have helped us along that road.

MONDAY MORNING PAINTERS

The Monday Morning Painters is a group of plein air painters that was started many years ago by Patrick Fanning, a local Sonoma County landscape artist. The group paints mostly throughout Sonoma County, but has been known to venture into adjoining counties on occasion. Many of the artists who paint with the group today have been doing so since its inception.
There is nothing you need to do to join in the painting outings, except show up and paint, and to please be polite, as we are often on private property and need to respect all requests of the owners. Join us every Monday from 9AM-1PM in the warm months and 12PM-4PM during the cold months. All media welcome. Critique is held at the last half hour of the outing.

At just over 40 years, AWS is the second oldest art group in Sonoma County, California. It attributes its longevity to the support, fellowship, and activities it provides its members. It is an organization of working artists. The members must be actively making art.
AWS’s purpose is fellowship and a network for Western Sonoma County artists achieved through monthly programs and several workshops a year through which members can broaden and improve their skills. The meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month from 12-3:30 at the Veteran’s Building in Sebastopol.
